Book Review: Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly

Realistic fiction, historical fiction, science fiction- Revolution does a wonderful job of rolling all 3 genres into one great story. Andi is struggling; she blames herself for her brother's death, her parents have split, her dad is too busy with his new life for her, and her mom is too consumed by her grief to realize how badly Andi needs help. Music is the only thing Andi can count on, but when her father drags her to Paris to write her senior thesis over Christmas Break, Andi learns she's not the only person who has dealt with grief and depression. After finding a 200-year-old diary in a guitar case, Andi is thrust into the world of the French Revolution and lives through the horrors of the time, both through Alex's diary entries, and first-hand experience after a freak accident sends her back to the 1790s.
